An 1850s Christmas Celebration
The Avenel Foundation will host An 1850's Christmas Celebration at the historic Avenel home in Bedford on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM. Guests will enjoy a lovely evening surrounded by 1850s Christmas cheer, heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and live holiday music. Guests are invited to attend in 1850's era costume, and there will be an exciting costume contest with one grand prize! Costumes are optional. Event tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available online at www.lynchburgtickets.com, Arthur’s Jewelry, Scott & Bond Insurance, Bedford Welcome Center, and from Avenel Board of Directors members. Built in 1838, Avenel is a beautifully restored historic home that is a Virginia Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. The Avenel Foundation is a nonprofit organization that rescued the historic Avenel home from decay and destruction in 1985. Today, The Avenel Foundation restores, preserves and protects historic Avenel, a Bedford legacy and unique landmark, for educational and community enjoyment.
