Georgia-Pacific’s Continuous Manufacturing Group is seeking qualified candidates to consider for a HR Administrator opportunity at our containerboard mill in Big Island, VA.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, process-oriented, and customer-focused with a passion for excellence. Must possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees. 

We are looking for a results-oriented self-starter who maintains a positive attitude and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.


Location


This position will be on-site in the Big Island, VA  manufacturing containerboard mill.


Our Team
 
GP's Big Island, VA containerboard mill produces the paper used to make boxes. Half of the production is made from 100% recycle fiber and the other half uses about 25% recycle fiber. In 2015, a $50 million upgrade enabled the production of a higher return product. What You Will Do
 
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to leaders in functional areas including, but not limited to talent management, compensation, compliance, disciplinary action, and career development.
  • Serve as a contact for employees; respond to questions regarding HR related topics including but not limited to the Infor myHR system, personnel information, and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide research, analysis, and data to assist in effective decision making.
  • Bring forth new and innovative ideas to improve or resolve HR processes or issues.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll and facilitate approvals utilizing Kronos (time entry system).  Partner with corporate capability teams to escalate issues.
  • Lead end-of-year payroll administration efforts (Kronos configuration updates, holidays, wage rate updates)
  • Lead the posting and tracking of internal hourly job postings.
  • Oversee and assist in the execution of workforce management updates (transfers, pay rate changes, work rules changes, accrual changes, etc.)
  • Administer GP Drug & Alcohol testing program.
  • Coach supervisors and managers on policies, guidelines, and positive employee relations.
  • Stay connected with the needs of employees by being visible and regularly interacting with all personnel.
  • Facilitate new hire orientations and onboarding process.
  • Creation and administration of employee security badges.
  • Be available for travel on a limited basis (example - during college recruiting season)
  • Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills, including active, engaged listening.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate trustworthiness, confidentiality, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
 
  • 3 or more years of Administrative or Human Resources experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e., Word, Excel, Teams)

What Will Put You Ahead
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification
  • Kronos (time entry system) experience
  • Experience in Infor myHR system or similar HRIS system
  • Human Resources experience in a Union environment.
